How do I stop excel spreadsheets opening in the browser window? I cannot perform my favourite funtions in this new mode which seems to have appeared after some update or other.
Go to 'Control Panel' Choose 'Folder Options' Click on File Types Locate "XLS Microsoft Excel Worksheet" (To scroll to items beginning with 'X' press the 'X' key on the keyboard) Click on the button marked 'Advanced' Click on the default action which is in bold. Have a look at the tick box marked 'Confirm open after download'and untick it and if "Browse in the same window" is checked, uncheck it. Click Ok to finish.
