My Bittorrent cient always seems to be disconnecting and losing valuable downloads. Is there an optimum way of connecting/configuring things so that I get fewer problems?

Personally I find that it does drop out even when there are many usuable hosts online which is not surprising considering how many ISPs lock down the usual port numbers. BitTorrent uses 6881 - 6889 UDP/TCP ports for connectivity to other hosts and begins by tryin port 6881 and tries up to 6889 if any are blocked. You should use either UPnP if your router supports it (go into BitTorrent and go to settings and then network and tick the UPnP box and refer to your routers instructions on activating UPnP.) Otherwise you can just go inot the Virtual Server/NAT/Port Forwarding section and forward all of 6881 to 6889 tcp and udp ports to the internal address of your PC that rus bittorrent which you can discover by typing 'ipconfig' into a command prompt.
